Staff are understood to have raised concerns over the pilots’ behaviour before the Air Transat A310, carrying up to 250 passengers on board, was due to depart from Glasgow to Toronto on Monday afternoon. Officers arrested the men, aged 37 and 39, on suspicion of being ‘impaired through alcohol’ before they were due to take off at 1pm. Police Scotland said the pair will appear in custody at Paisley Sheriff Court later. A spokeswoman said: ‘Police Scotland can confirm that two men aged 39 and 37 years have been arrested in relation to being allegedly impaired through alcohol under the Railway and Transport Safety Act 2003 (Section 93).’ The Canadian airline confirmed the arrest of its employees, adding that the flight had been rescheduled and the passengers put up in hotels. TS725 22 hr delay.

Forced landing at Wonderboom Airport
Passengers on a flight from Cape Town are being held on an aircraft at Wonderboom Airport, awaiting the arrival of police.
A flight from Cape Town was forced to land at Wonderboom Airport after a passenger became so unruly he had to be restrained.
Social media is abuzz with claims that the incident was in fact a hijacking, but this was strongly denied by the metro, which owns and operates the airport.
According to Tshwane metro spokesperson Blessing Manale, claims that the situation at Wonderboom Airport was a hijacking, was untrue.
“It is purely a matter of a restraint of a passenger,” Manale said.
It is understood that the passenger had to be restrained by cabin attendants before the plane landed at Wonderboom.
